Do any of you have a custom computer desk? I have plans for one that i have modified for computer use only, my grandfather has a woodshop so i think im going to build it. I added a place for the router, hub, a usb hub, and a broadband modem. I will put in 2 monitor stands, one center, and on to the right, a place for 2 cases(server and workstation) Also i added in an organized wire ducts of sorts. I am sorta stoked to get started on it.
So do any of you have a custom computer desk? If so is it worth it? and how did you obtain it?

No, i dont have one made, but i have the plans to make one. I took drafting as a trade, so it was easy to draw up a plan... now i gotta do something with it. The reason i made mine is because i wanted something that kept it all organized, but still allowed me to show it off. For real, whats the purpose in those pretty cases you get with an Alienware if it just sites inside a desk, out of sight. My desk was obviously made for either a laptop or something real small. a 19" monitor is thicker than the entire width of the desk, it sucks. Good thing my Keyboard sits on a tray underneath the monitor, or i wouldnt be able to use it. My idea includes a custom entertainment center for my TV and stereo too. Its like one big wall unit.
The lumber shouldnt cost that much. 2x4's for the framing and than all the hardware needed to put it all together, Some plywood for the back. Like you described, i have all kinds of little cubbies planned out for everything. But for only one PC. I never even thought about settin one up for 2... thats a real good idea, i might steal that one if you dont mind.
I have all the space i need to put it together too (sighgirl ;) ) I even had all the wood.. but than the rightful owner decided he wanted it back ;) So thats all im really waiting on, going to pick up all the parts. Take some pictures when your done.
I think im gonna end up staining mine dark brown with a polyurethane finish. Ill post the pics if i ever get workin on it. Who knows, you may have just kicked the idea back into gear.
