i mean the game looks great and all, and the no doubt the new game engine will be the start of many great games to come, but i just have this strong feeling that D3 will be very linear. not like farcry where u can approach a situation from any number of directions, and even tho the outcome would be the same in the end the approach u took made it feel non-linear.

im just hoping i can buy it, install it and play it without a problem. My specs pretty close to the requirements with the exception of my GeForce4 Ti4200 64mb card. Im thinking of buying a better one for the game, but who knows. Other than that, from everything ive read, i should be good to go, with more than enough juice. I wasnt able to play the Alpha release, so i still havnt seen it at all..

To put it lightly, there's no way in hell you'll play Doom3 with that card. I couldn't even play RVS with that card.

You'll probably need a radeon9700 or better, or GeForce FX5600 or better for it to be playable.

the minimum requirements call for a Geforce3. Ill be just fine. If i want to max the settings out, than yea, thats when ill buy a new card. Trust me tho, the card i have will run it just fine. Im sure you'll catch a few of the SS's i plaster all over the net once i start playing.4 days to go :)

lol your 100 fps is a lie. i run at 80 fps with double the specs you have. turn vsync off in your user.ini to see your real fps.

I dont lie about anything. My Alienware picks up any slack my card leaves behind. 100fps isnt even what it benchmarked. This PC was built, than benchmarked at 257 fps on Quake 3. Most of the games today include the phrase.. "best played on an alienware". They dont add that because they have a kick ass video card and thats it. You might have a kick ass card, but you probly run it in a shitty machine. Buy an Alienware, than gimme a call and we can compare notes. and for the record, vsync is off. Anisotropic is off, Antialiasing is off, Image settings at quality. And i play in 800x600. 100 fps is easy.

Alienware are good pc's don't get me wrong, but they're an absolute rip off for the price, you can build a pc with the same performance for a lot less

So ive been told. But i havnt built one yet. I like the added perks that come along with bought PC's, like warrentees and games and other shit. I got a few games.. old ones now and a Shirt, a logo'd mouse pad.. hard plastic.. slammin for optical mice. I also got a 2 year subscription to a gaming mag, not to mention the technical support. So far its the best ive encountered as far as PC help goes. And so far its the best running PC ive owned (had 5 pc's at one time).

If you build a PC most of your parts will be warrantied for almost as long as a bought PC. You can also get gamer bundle's with certain hardware (the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum recently had an awesome game bundle with it's card for only $10 more than the card by itself, and if you buy a Radeon 9800xt or 9600xt you get a free copy of HL2 when it comes out).

Where exactly is it that the slack gets picked up, do you have some secret new AGP channel that buffers a gig more vram where your 64 megs cant handle it? Maybe it has some extra vcpu built on the board to make any card have dual processing? uh huh

q3 is an engine thats over 7 years old, and built for 16 megs of vram cards. If your 64 meg card isnt getting 200fps then i would be surpised and stunned. Yes 800x600 makes a diffrence but still go turn off vsync in the user.ini to see your real fps. plus that card should drop FPS greatly in a gun fight or large maps with lotsa polys. ohh and single player fps is diffrent than MP fps.

An alienware is a Personal Computer, you have the same specs as any top of the line pc except you pay more for it to get a cool looking case, and a name.

besides i wasnt calling you a liar, i said its a lie. meaning you had vsync turned on or your were stating with some glitch in your rsv/UT engine. My rvs is glitched i get 0 FPS when playing MP games. dunno why, dont really care, fraps tells me i average 80 though.

my specs are sorta low. I have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe-E (i had the deluxe rev. 2, but i blew it up bgs)MB, Barton/XP 3200, gig a ram, and the last great nvidia card, the 4600ti. The card is overclocked and running pretty damn cool, the cpu isnt o/c'ed. i could prolly getting at 2.8ghz or 3.0ghz but its not really worth it, im crunching just fine as i am.

Off you can o/c that 2400+ quite a bit. then all you have to do is by a better cpu fan and heatsink, and 1 or 2 case fans. (you should have those case fans anyways helps keep your video card and mobo cool too. -=])

UT2k4 has invasion, prolly the most fun coop mode ever.
Doom 3 sux multiplayer though, sad but not all that sad considering there will be alot of games written under this engine. Quake 4 is not being done by id this time around, but will use this engine.

Dont believe it because if you have a 5200 and hit auto i garuntee if it actualy gave you high settings it set it to 800x600 as default.

Unless you like super super low frames that high qaulity isnt running that great. A 5200 just lacks what it takes to push high qaulity at 1024x768 with decent frames.

But its all good, screenshots dont proove a thing cause things can be changed and i know you would do it to proove a point.

Id ask you to fraps a video of you doing it but i dont care cause i know that auto config wont let a 5200 run high at 1024x768 and "kick ass" as you claim.
