View Full Version : Is it torture...

Talked to a marine about this after his recent return to the states.

Basically he spoke of a terrorist down in Cuba who was such a threat, he'd sit naked (on his own) and refused to allow people near him, be it to treat, examine, or even attempt to cloth him. Didn't matter if it was an armed marine or international worker. He was exceptionally dangerous and aggressive and they had no idea what to do...

So while he sat their naked they sent in a female and had her point at his genitals and laugh at him and walk away.

His spirit was broken 100% and he never sat around naked and his physical agression damn near vanished...he didn't fuly cooperate like a puppy, but he was managable afterwards and he told many intel officers much data...

The person was Al Qeuda or Taliban taken from Afganistan btw if it mattered...

Was he tortured or mistreated?

Is it far fetched that the current pictures are just extreme versions of this...granted they are pretty sick and unimaginable in a decent society (even I can't imagine making a naked pyramid except at a Frat house or naval ship), but so are many of the beliefs that these people have - even to their own fellow muslims...

I have no idea what the accepted norm is for this type of thing. All i know is the pictures are shocking to view. The latest one with the naked guy tied up on the floor with the girl holding the leash makes me ill as does the ones with the dogs.

If he chose to sit there naked and wouldn't let anyone have any contact with him in any form then I don't think it's torture (or if it is, it's self torture). As for the woman laughing at his genitals, boo freaking hoo, ya gotta break him down somehow.

But what if that picture was "staged" like her attorney's claim it was...where the man was placed on the floor and hse mearly posed to appear to be being dragged to intimidate other prisoners with what the american dogs will do if they don't talk?

I totally support what they did, but what if you saw a picture of that woman standing over a naked Afgan prisoner laughing at his nutz....what would the perception be...what is it now with Iraqi prisoners...

It hadn't occured to me that they actually dragged him around. I assumed it's posed or staged but the affect is still the same I think. The news that came with the picture of the prisoner with the dogs said that after the pic was taken the dogs attacked and seriously injured the man.

We had case up here with the Canadian Airborne in Somalia and they tortured and killed a guy and took pictures posing with him. It was awful and disgusting. Here's a link.

I hate seeing or hearing about this kind of stuff. It makes me feel awful. Again that isn't what we went there for and it isn't what we expect of our soldiers. We are nations of civilized compassionate human beings that don't expect to see this type of behaviour from our people.

*note to self, when doing stupid things with prisoners of war, dont take pictures or video.

i think its horrible what they did, but they are double dumbasses for taking pictures

I don't think it's horrible, I think people alot higher up than those MP's wanted things done this way too, if I went to a prison camp as a POW I'd expect a lot worse from our enemies...

but dogg they did much worse.... I wonder how a picture of a guy standing naked while 2 dogs are ready to attack him can be staged... when the following picture shows him on the floor and a pool of blood and the dogs on top of him (for obvious reasons they dont show this one on every channel)

ahhh deek u hit the nail on the head IMO

we had guys in vietnam tortured to death in provincial “interrogation centers” all over Vietnam also i heard if guys who were locked up in box's so small they couldnt stand and couldnt stretch there legs and after they confessed they still got beaten to death

IMO these prisoners are paraded around to demoralize their character but i havent seen any signs of physical torture..just mental..aside from that dog case..and thats an exception to the pictures..I dont think most people who have a negative opinion on these pictures know what torture real torture is. It goes both ways ..research operation phoenix issued by the CIA in vietnam..both sides do it..is it right ..hell no..can it be beneficial to intel..hell yes..Sit down with Senator John McCain and ask him what its all about ..just IMO..no hard feelings to the doves

we've done some pretty fucked up shit..and we sure as hell have come along way..there is always gonna be someone saying that its not right, how can we commit such human atrocities..but having a bunch of Prisoners naked in the form of a human triangle ..imo isnt one of them

I must have missed the part where this was about the infamous pictures. Those pictures were disgusting. I was under the impression that this was about a guy who willingly sat naked in a cell and refused any communication, help, or clothing. The pictures are gross and stupid, but have gotten way more media time than the killed and desecrated contract workers in Falluja did and probably more than this beheaded worker will.

Was he tortured or mistreated?

Neither. He was being stubborn. The self-esteem tactic was a good choice.
